Getting Oriented: Everything You Need to Know About Mississippi College Orientation

After the last finals are completed & the term papers are turned in, the students of Mississippi College leave the comfort of campus & head off to do big things all over the world. Some slip on their Chaco's & head to camp, while others decide to work a new job or learn through an internship. There are even others who get passports & head across an ocean or down the continent to study abroad or do summer missions. A select few of us though are lucky enough to land the best summer gig (in my opinion). We get to stick around Clinton & party with all of you at orientation! Trust me, nothing could possibly be more fun!

Finding "The One:" How to Start Your College Search

Finding "The One:" How to Start Your College Search

So then, knowing that there are so many incredible colleges to choose from, how on earth do you get started with picking just one? That's a valid question & one that I asked myself more than once in my high school career. There are so many possibilities that it can be difficult to even begin looking for the right college fit. By the grace of God, I found my way to just the right place for me & today I'd like to share a few tips I picked up along my own college-search experience.

No Major? No Sweat!

No Major? No Sweat!

So you want to go to college but you don't have a ideas for a major...well then, I've got a story for you.

Once upon a time there was a high schooler who needed to make a lot of big decisions & that freaked her out big time. Making life-altering choices such as choosing a college felt daunting when she had no idea what direction (literally or figuratively) she wanted to go in life. She felt like the unknown was far too close for comfort, & it overwhelmed the planner in her. While her doctor-aspiring friends were applying to colleges with the best pre-med programs & her future-architect-friends found schools suited to their needs, she felt as though she had nothing to go on at all in the college decision-making process. However, by the grace of God & the advice of a few people, she ended up at a school that she loves &, after some time, studying a subject she also loves.

When Home is Far Away

When Home is Far Away

Here I am, not unlike hundreds of other people here on MC's campus, at a school hundreds of miles away from where I live. I wouldn't trade it for the world, namely because I know that I am exactly where I am meant to be, but there are times that it gets hard being so far from home.

What is your calling?

What is your calling?

As college students, there's a lot of pressure to know what we plan on doing for the rest of our lives. And if you're anything like me, that's a really hard thing to figure out. In February I wrote a blog about my serial major changing habits. Those habits, which you can read about here, have lead me to have a lot of questions about my calling, my goals, my ultimate answer to the forever looming question of "What do you want to be when you grow up?"
