Profound Professor: Dr. David G. Miller

Profound Professor: Dr. David G. Miller

This semester, I'm lucky enough to be one of his students. I've gotten to experience what it's like to be taught by a man that seems to know everything, but thanks to this blog, I've gotten to know him beyond his knowledge of English grammar. Today, I want to share those things with you, because Dr. Miller is a man worth getting to know.

Profound Professors: Madame Man-Bourdon

Profound Professors: Madame Man-Bourdon

Madame Man-Bourdon teaches her classes with enthusiasm, energy, and humor. I'm currently in my second semester of French, which is part of the Modern Languages department, and I cannot think of a day in her class where I haven't laughed at least once. Loving, kind, and intelligent are only a few words that describe this MC professor.

Profound Professors: Dr. John Meadors

Profound Professors: Dr. John Meadors

For Dr. Meadors, engaging in "the great conversation" of philosophy is key to living a fulfilling life. "Students should study philosophy because the world is a many-splendored thing, a beautiful gift from God in its dizzying variety and scope.  A careful study of philosophy renders the world more richly hued and more sharply focused," he explains.

Profound Professor: Dr. Kristi Melancon

Profound Professor: Dr. Kristi Melancon

Through her teaching, Dr. Melancon combines two of her greatest loves: English and social justice. She says English matters because language matters, and language is tied up in power, which is a major component of social justice.

Profound Professor: Dr. Beth Stapleton

Profound Professors: Mr. Steve Cook

Profound Professors: Mr. Steve Cook

"I promise I'm not making any of this up" is Steve Cook's catch phrase. This semester, I've had the honor of finally having Mr. Cook for a class, Drawing III, and I have already heard that sentence uttered dozens of times. That's because Mr. Cook, a professor in the Art Department, is full of wildly interesting and unbelievable stories that fascinate his students. An instructor in printmaking, drawing, aesthetics, and painting here at MC, Mr. Cook has led an adventurous life, impacting many.
