Many of us know that today is the day when we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ and thank Him for what He did for us. Out of all the unique things that Mississippi College has to offer, CAB (Campus Activities Board) events, Welcome Week Crew events, and Residence Life events are among the top of my list. From Welcome Week and the Lighting of the Quad, to a Valentine’s Day “mixer” and a “puppy break,” there are all sorts of events you can attend to meet other students and take a break from your studies. Just like God gave us doctors, nurses, nutritionists, and physical trainers, He also gave us counselors, psychologists, psychiatrists, and friends. With this in mind, it’s important to understand that taking care of your mental health is just as important as taking care of your physical health. It doesn’t have to begin with a big issue – it could be something that starts with getting to know yourself better or just meeting with someone as a way to “check-up” on your mental health. As a high school senior, I remember feeling nervous about applying to colleges and wishing that there had been advice and insights from students that went to the schools I was interested in.
