Breaking in The Bank

Walking down the brick streets of Clinton, Mississippi, one might think there really isn't a lot going on. However, just across the street from the old antique store lies a hidden gem that some locals have yet to discover. This gem is called The Bank by Pizza Shack.

To a passerby, The Bank might look just as the title says: your average small town bank. And, in fact, at one point it was. But not anymore. This old building has been renovated into an affordable yet swanky pizza joint. I'll be the first to tell you: it's good. Like, really good. But I'll get to that in a bit.

The name of the restaurant isn't the only thing that's unique about The Bank. Inside, the restaurant boasts bare-brick walls covered with stylish paintings, a countertop full of pennies, and  even diagrams of old bank vaults. The design is inviting, and the restaurant is cozy but not too cramped.

The real draw of The Bank, though, is their food. What do they have, you ask? Among many appetizers, they have a diverse selection of pizza, wings, sandwiches, salads, and desserts. I had the chance to visit The Bank with some friends recently, and we had a blast. Here is a rundown of our journey through the best The Bank has to offer.

We began our meal with cheesy bread. Served with marinara sauce, this appetizer has the perfect combination of melted cheese and golden brown crust. A great way to start it off!

Next, we moved on to chicken wings. The Bank offers around eight flavors, so we took the waitress' suggestion and got the lemon pepper wings. We were not disappointed. They melt in your mouth. I definitely recommend this one, and I'd honestly eat their wings as a meal all by itself.

When it came time for the main dish, we were presented with a multitude of pizzas to choose from. Our waitress once again guided us to two phenomenal pizzas. The first is called When Pigs Fly. Akin to a meat-lovers, this pizza comes with queso cheese, mozzarella, Canadian bacon, bacon, alligator andouille sausage and pork sausage, all topped with a BBQ Swirl. It is even better than it sounds.

The second pizza is called the Chicken Bacon Ranch. Other than the obvious ingredients, this pizzas also has mozzarella, cheddar, banana peppers, and diced tomatoes. I usually dislike peppers, but the banana peppers were so fresh that I ate all of my slices (and even took home an extra slice for myself).

To finish it off, we got a deluxe chocolate fudge brownie. Though we claimed we were too full to eat anymore, we devoured the brownie within minutes. It's hard to resist a hot brownie with a cold scoop of homemade ice-cream on top!

The only thing greater than the food at The Bank were the people. The service was fantastic, and the waitstaff was friendly and helpful. I asked Jordan, a waitress, what her favorite part about working at The Bank was. She responded:

"My favorite part about The Bank is meeting all sorts of people-- I've met people from Italy all the way to South Africa."

If you go to The Bank, you'll not only get top-notch food, but a unique atmosphere filled with kind people from all kinds of places. Whether it's date night, girls night, or just a to-go kind of night, The Bank has what you're looking for.
