In my lifetime, I have uttered "I wish" countless times. Some of these wishes have come true, and others have yet to be determined. In fairy tales, wishes do come true, and happily ever after is achieved.

But what happens after happily ever after?

This fall, Mississippi College's Music Department will perform Into the Woods, presenting the audience with a challenge: to wrestle with morality. Intertwining the plots of fairy tales, such as "Cinderella" and "Little Red Riding Hood," Stephen Sondheim's and James Lapine's Into the Woods explores the lengths that will be taken to get a wish and the consequences which follow.

To give the Choctawk readers a sneak peek of the show, our staff stopped by a rehearsal this week, and we were blown away by the amount of talent that MC has. The cast ranges from freshmen to one of our professors, Dr. David Miller. In fact, Dr. Kristen Gunn, the musical director, said that one of the reasons this show was chosen was because it showcases many roles.

The cast members of Into the Woods have nothing but high remarks for the show and are excited to start performing. One of the cast members told us that this show will "make you laugh, cry, and think."

You can see Into the Woods at Mississippi College on September 24-27, October 1-4. Tickets are: $20 for adults, $15 for seniors, and $10 for students.
