Fall in Love

Winter is an etching, spring a watercolor, summer an oil painting, and autumn a mosaic of them all.
— Stanley Horowitz

There's a time of the year when Pocahontas paints with all the colors of the wind and the earth turns into a jewel-toned thing of beauty. It's a time of crunchy leaves resting beneath your boots and hangouts over pumpkin-flavored coffee. Ladies and gents, this beloved time is Fall!

If, by some strange chance, you don't already adore Autumn, I'm going to make it my job to convince you that it's time to fall in love!

1. Clothes/Fashion

Face it, fall fashion is so much nicer and more versatile than your basic t-shirt and Nikes combo, and it's so much cozier! Just picture this: you're curled up on a bench wearing your softest sweater and scarf combo, a cup of coffee warming your hands as you form incredible relationships. It's even better when you add a cute hat! Trust me, everyone is happier when they're warm and cozy.

2. Pumpkin invasion

Yes, it has become something of a joke to see pumpkin-flavored EVERYTHING wherever you go, but it's time to lower your weapons and embrace it. Fall is all about warmth, spices, and homey flavors, and what better way is there to get into the mood than by chowing down on pumpkin cupcakes, getting a pumpkin-spice latte, or even trying that pumpkin juice recipe on Pinterest. Trust me, if you try it in enough varieties, you'll become a convert like me.

My weakness is pumpkin bread. Please don't use that against me.

3. The Glow

Hazy, golden sunlight floods through an array of red, orange, and yellow leaves to cast a filter on the earth that's better than anything Instagram could hope to come out with. When you start to see the glow happening, run outside and let it kiss your face lest you forget what it feels like in the coming winter months!

4. Holidays

Of course, we couldn't mention fall in the South without bringing up Football...go on and get your cheers out of the way. Done? Awesome! Now let's get to the really exciting events coming up: Halloween, Thanksgiving, and...Christmas! There is no feeling in the world like the one you get after your grandmother has stuffed you as much as she stuffed the turkey on Thanksgiving Day. And as soon as that's over, you can finally listen to Christmas music without all the judgmental glances!

5. Cuddle time

Finally, I'm going to go ahead and say it. Nothing beats those crisp fall breezes that nudge you and your sweater clad fella or lady together- all for the sake of staying warm, of course! And trust me when I say that the Lovers' Swings get that much more lovely as the cold pushes sweethearts closer together to admire the world around them.

Even if you're not in a romantic relationship it's a great time to snuggle up to your buddies and get closer because hey, like I said before, we all turn into penguins during this season and sharing is caring!

Autumn is the season to fall in love. Fall in love with people, food, and nature as the world gently falls asleep around you. Get outside, enjoy the glow, eat something with pumpkin in it, and strike up a conversation with a stranger! Trust me, you won't regret it.

Autumn...the year’s last, loveliest smile.
