Spring Fever Week is an annual week of events held by our Campus Activities Board. Every year, the week holds a different batch of events, but it's always a load of fun!
Spring Fever Week serves as a mid-semester break that provides us with fun entertainment. As the much anticipated warm weather arrives, CAB takes advantage of the clear skies and sunshine as the setting for SFW. Coming off of Derby Week, the mid-semester slump has the potential to set in, but Spring Fever Week is CAB's way of combating it. They use this week to offer energy and excitement.
This year, Spring Fever Week takes on the theme that we all know and love: the 90's Spring Break. It will be a week spent celebrating a decade that most of us spent eating baby-food and playing with Barbies (or G.I. Joe's). CAB chairperson, Hunter Sandoval, hopes that this SFW will "create a fun and care-free atmosphere all around campus." Hunter described that CAB's goal for this week is, "To take students back to a day when tests, meetings, and deadlines didn't steal the joy of life."
Throughout the week, we all have the chance to attend a wide variety of events to keep us out of the mid-semester slump. From the annual crawfish boil to the SFW concert, it's a blast. This year's schedule is:
Saturday March 21st - Crawfish Boil
Monday March 23rd - Late Night Wiffle Ball Tournament
Tuesday March 24th - Rock the Vote, Executive Council Voting
Wednesday March 25th - way back wednesday, 90's style
Thursday March 26th- colony house Concert
For a lot of us (or at least for me), the highlight of the week is the Thursday night concert. This year, MC will be hosting Colony House and supporting artists, The Red Headed Indian and Corey Kilgannon. The headlining band, Colony House is native to Nashville, TN. Their album, When I was Younger released last year. It provides the perfect soundtrack for road trips and sunny days, making them the perfect band for our Spring Fever Week concert.
Spring Fever Week kicks off tomorrow afternoon with the Crawfish Boil! It'll be set up on College Street in front of the Library and Aven Hall. There will be 90's music playing and more crawfish than you can handle. Make sure to go check it out and have a fantastic week!
