At Mississippi College, we have these little things called clubs and tribes. If you don’t already know about them, the guys’ clubs are Shawreth, Civitan, and Circle K, while the girls’ tribes are Swannanoa, Kissimee, Nenamoosha, and Laguna. Each year, these groups have events called formals and informals. Certain clubs hold their formals in the spring, while others are held in the fall. Formals of course are just a little bit more dressy and quite a bit farther away, but other than that they aren’t too different from informals.
In the fall, the new rush class is introduced and so on and so forth, but in the spring, it is just a massive techno dance party. Of course, other universities have such soirees, and so you may have heard of these events. Although going to the event is fun, asking your date to the event can be the highlight of any function. Friends sit down and talk together about who they are going to ask, and more specifically plan how they are going to ask them. Some people like to be ultra creative and drag out the process – a friend I know created a website and is spending an entire week making the girl venture through an extensive scavanger hunt. Others would prefer to just bluntly ask their date rather than spend all this time and effort on a process they view as completeley pointless. Of course, the one thing no one wants to hear is “no”, but we at MC have learned to try and come up with the best and freshest way to ask someone to an event. In my own experince last semester, I made a girl a T-shirt of all the hashtags I used to use on Twitter all the time. You see, I am very into this Twitter network, and so making this shirt last semster was the perfect way for me to ask the girl to the event. Thankfully, she said yes and we had a great time. This semester, however, I am asking a girl to our spring formal. That is, the Shawreth spring formal. This girl is a telecounselor with me, and hopefully she will read this blog soon. Hopefully she will join me at our formal and we will dance the night away. It’s gonna be a party! #doitbigbaby
So, without further ado, @morgan_gaughf, will you go to Shawreth Formal with me?
Your favorite telecounselor, @strooploop1
UPDATE: She said yes!
